Consumer and Retail SAP BTP SAP Clean Core SAP Integration Suite
A global beverages company engages an embedded BTP architect to lead Clean Core adoption and Integration Suite migration
A Global Consumer Beverages Company Delivered 2025
Mindset placed an embedded SAP BTP Solution Architect inside the company's SAP Center of Excellence to guide a Clean Core transition and an Integration Suite migration, giving the team senior architecture direction for a program that would have been difficult to staff internally.
By the numbers
-
~6 months
Embedded architecture advisory inside the SAP CoE
-
2 tracks
Clean Core adoption and Integration Suite migration covered in parallel
Before
A BTP program without an in-house architect
- The SAP CoE had a mandate for Clean Core and Integration Suite but lacked senior BTP architecture expertise on staff.
- No embedded advisor to support real-time architecture decisions as the migration program moved forward.
- Integration Suite migration patterns and governance not yet defined.
After
Embedded expertise, defined migration path
- A dedicated BTP Solution Architect inside the CoE for six months, supporting decisions as they happened.
- Clean Core adoption path and Integration Suite migration patterns defined and documented.
- Larger migration program supported by architecture guidance from an advisor who understood the full landscape.
Why this matters
An embedded advisory model that put an architect inside the client's SAP CoE rather than advising from the outside, making the guidance practical and continuous rather than episodic.
The challenge
The company's SAP Center of Excellence had a concrete mandate: move toward SAP's Clean Core model and migrate its integrations to SAP Integration Suite. Both goals required deep BTP architecture expertise that the CoE did not have on staff.
The challenge was not just the technical work. The team needed someone who could sit inside their organization, understand the existing landscape, and make real architecture decisions with them, not hand over a set of recommendations and leave. The engagement needed to be continuous, collaborative, and open-ended enough to match the pace of the program.
What we did
Mindset deployed a dedicated SAP BTP Solution Architect as an embedded advisor to the company's SAP CoE, alongside Basis support coverage. The architect worked under the company's procurement terms on a sustained advisory engagement.
The advisory work covered two main tracks. The first was Clean Core: helping the team understand where their current SAP landscape sat relative to Clean Core principles, which customizations needed to be addressed, and how to sequence the work. The second was Integration Suite migration: providing architecture guidance on moving integrations from the existing platform to SAP Integration Suite, including patterns, governance, and the technical approach for migrating flows.
The embedded model meant the advisor was available for architecture decisions as they came up, not just at scheduled checkpoints. That presence supported the larger migration program the company was running alongside the advisory.
The outcomes
The company's SAP CoE gained sustained access to senior BTP architecture guidance for the duration of the engagement, with an advisor embedded in their team rather than at arm's length.
The advisory produced architecture direction for the Clean Core adoption path and the Integration Suite migration approach, and it fed directly into the larger migration program the team was executing. The engagement ran approximately six months, from spring through fall 2025.
If we built this today
Concept · not delivered scopeThe architecture call, drafted for you.
This is a forward-looking concept, not the scope we delivered on this engagement. It is the build we would reach for now, grounded in SAP that ships today.
This embedded-architect engagement was about moving a global beverages estate toward Clean Core and shifting its integrations onto SAP Integration Suite, and that is exactly the kind of migration an agent can now draft and a human can approve.
The data product
Knowledge Graph over S/4HANA
SAP Knowledge Graph gives the agent governed business semantics so a migrated integration still means the same thing on both ends. It grounds the Clean Core review against real object definitions rather than guesses.

The Joule agent
Integration Suite Flow Builder
Reads the existing middleware iFlows, message mappings, and process orchestration content, then proposes the equivalent SAP Integration Suite design with reuse patterns and a migration order. It flags where custom logic breaks Clean Core and suggests the extension-on-BTP path instead.

The Fiori app
SAP Integration Suite Flow Builder (with Joule)
BTP design work lives in Integration Suite and the Clean Core extensibility tooling, not in an S/4HANA Fiori app. Joule sits inside that builder to draft flows and explain mapping choices, so the honest category here is the BTP integration tooling, not a launchpad tile.
Part of SAP BTP, not the Fiori launchpad.
We would still mine the current integration estate in SAP Signavio first, map the application landscape in SAP LeanIX, and let MIND accelerators carry the old iFlows over to the new ones.
