What is SAP Business Data Cloud?
SAP's latest data platform. It combines Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, BW Private Cloud Edition, and Databricks into one governed SaaS environment for enterprise analytics and AI. Think of it as the digital nervous system for SAP data, integrating, harmonizing, modeling, and analyzing across SAP and non-SAP systems in real-time.
We're still on BW/BW4. Do we need to migrate now?
No urgent rush. BW/4HANA is supported through 2030+. But SAP isn't investing in new BW features. BDC is where the platform is going. We help clients plan phased, non-disruptive migrations that maintain business continuity while positioning for what comes next.
How is BDC different from Datasphere?
Datasphere is one component of BDC, the data fabric layer. BDC is the complete package: Datasphere plus SAP Analytics Cloud plus BW PCE plus Databricks plus intelligent applications, all under one license with unified governance and integrated AI. Datasphere is the engine, BDC is the vehicle.
Can BDC work with Power BI and Tableau?
Yes. BDC supports open integration with Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, and other third-party BI tools. SAC offers native advantages when paired with BDC (live connections, semantic integration, Joule AI), but the platform is designed to be open for multi-tool environments.
