A Global Pharmaceutical Company Validates a UI5 Application Concept with SAP Fiori Advisory and POC Delivery

A global pharmaceutical company Delivered 2018

Mindset turned a pharmaceutical innovation team's prototype into a working UI5 application, registered in their SuccessFactors DEV environment, with front-end-to-back-end integration validated and all use cases confirmed against SAP UI5 best practices.

By the numbers

  • 1 POC

Operational proof of concept delivered to DEV environment

  • 2 engagements

UX advisory followed by back-end development services

Before

A prototype with nowhere to go

  • An application concept existed as a prototype but had not been built to SAP UI5 standards.
  • No front-end-to-back-end integration had been attempted.
  • The innovation team could not evaluate the concept without a working, registered application.

After

A working UI5 application in DEV

  • A fully developed UI5 front end built to SAP standards, registered in the SuccessFactors DEV environment.
  • Use cases ratified and integration with back-end development confirmed.
  • The innovation team had a real, testable proof of concept to evaluate.

Why this matters

A pharma innovation team had a prototype and needed SAP expertise to make it real. Mindset delivered a working UI5 application, registered and integrated in their DEV environment, fast enough to validate the concept before any larger commitment.

The challenge

The SuccessFactors innovation and application-development group at this large pharmaceutical company had built an application prototype and needed help turning it into a deployable, testable UI5 application. The team had an idea worth validating but needed SAP UI5 expertise to bring it to life in their own DEV environment.

The question was straightforward: could the concept work as a real Fiori application, built to SAP UI5 standards, integrated front-to-back, and ready for the innovation team to evaluate?

What we did

Mindset ran a focused SAP UX and Fiori advisory engagement, working remotely alongside the company's own back-end developers.

A Senior UX Architect and Senior SAP UI5 Developer took the existing prototype, grounded the design in SAP UI5 best practices, ratified the use cases, and built the front end of the UI5 application. The app was registered in the company's SuccessFactors DEV instance, unit tested, and validated end-to-end through collaboration with the client's back-end team on the integration layer.

A follow-on back-end development services engagement extended the work once the POC was confirmed.

The outcomes

Mindset delivered an operational UI5 proof of concept into the company's SuccessFactors DEV environment. The prototype became a working, testable application built to SAP UI5 standards, with front-end-to-back-end integration demonstrated.

The work validated the concept for the innovation team and established Mindset as a UI5 and Fiori delivery partner for the group.

If we built this today

Concept · not delivered scope

From prototype to a real Joule agent.

This is a forward-looking concept, not the scope we delivered on this engagement. It is the build we would reach for now, grounded in SAP that ships today.

A SuccessFactors innovation team that had built a UI5 prototype and needed it turned into a deployable, validated app is exactly the kind of idea that now becomes a custom Joule agent instead of a hand-built screen.

The data product

People Intelligence

The People Intelligence application on SAP Business Data Cloud grounds the agent in real workforce data and governed business semantics, so a validated concept reads from actual SuccessFactors data instead of mock prototype inputs.

The Joule agent

SuccessFactors Concept-to-Agent Builder

Reads the team's existing prototype intent and the SuccessFactors data model, then proposes a working Joule agent and the SAPUI5 surface that goes with it, validated against SAP UI5 and Fiori design best practices. A human reviews and approves before anything lands in a DEV tenant.

The Fiori app

13 SuccessFactors Joule Assistants

The SuccessFactors innovation work now plugs into the domain Joule Assistants going GA across SuccessFactors in 2026, with Joule embedded in the launchpad rather than a one-off prototype screen. Custom ideas get built in Joule Studio, with free design-time access through the end of 2026.

Joule Assistants, not a single S/4 Fiori app

We would mine the team's real process in SAP Signavio first, map the SuccessFactors and Fiori landscape in SAP LeanIX, and let MIND accelerators carry the old prototype patterns into the new build.

What we built

  • Prototype converted to a working UI5 application

    UI5 application front end

Front-end design and development of a UI5 application grounded in SAP UI5 best practices, based on the client's existing prototype.

  • Operational POC delivered to client DEV environment

    SuccessFactors DEV registration and testing

Application registered in the client's SuccessFactors DEV environment, unit tested, and validated against the agreed use cases.

  • Full front-to-back integration validated

    Front-end to back-end integration

Collaborative integration with the client's own back-end development team, confirming the application worked end-to-end.

  • All use cases confirmed before further investment

    Use-case ratification

Structured review of the application use cases against SAP UI5 standards and Fiori design guidelines, confirming the concept was sound before back-end development proceeded.
