The challenge
The manufacturer ran a major North American assembly plant and wanted to stand up its own internal Fiori application development practice. The challenge was capability, not ambition. Its front-end and back-end developers had not worked with SAP Fiori, UI5, or the Web IDE before and needed structured, practical training to start building on their own.
Sending people to generic SAP courses would not cut it. The team needed curriculum designed around real Fiori development work, with time to practice the full stack from UI5 and JavaScript through integrated back-end OData development and workflow.
What we did
Mindset designed and delivered a five-day on-site Fiori developer curriculum at the manufacturer's plant, structured as a three-day block followed by a two-day block over two weeks, with pre-work the week before.
Two Mindset developer-trainers staffed the engagement, one full-stack with a back-end focus and one full-stack with a front-end focus. The curriculum covered the SAP UX strategy and Fiori architecture, Design Thinking methods, Web IDE and tooling setup, UI5 and JavaScript fundamentals, integrated front-end and back-end development, building out from a story backlog and MVP, and an overview of SAP innovation topics including Leonardo.
The paired-trainer format meant developers got both ends of the stack covered in real time, with hands-on exercises throughout rather than lecture-only sessions.
The outcomes
The manufacturer's development team completed the curriculum with the foundational Fiori skills to support an internal Fiori application development practice. Developers got hands-on experience across UI5, JavaScript, Web IDE, OData back-end development, and the Design Thinking process that feeds a Fiori project from the start.
The engagement was a deliberate choice to build internal capability rather than outsource Fiori work. The curriculum, exercises, and project setup artifacts left the team with reference material they could continue using after Mindset's trainers departed.

This team wanted to build and own its Fiori practice in-house instead of outsourcing the apps, and today that same goal runs through SAP Build, where developers and a build co-pilot ship custom apps together.

The Fiori app
SAP Build (with embedded Joule)
The build environment where Fiori apps get assembled with Joule drafting layouts and logic alongside the developer. This is the platform successor to Web IDE, not a single S/4HANA transaction app, so we name the environment honestly rather than a Fiori app that does not fit enablement work.
