Finding Required Software Components for Fiori App Installation

One thing I have always found to be important in technology careers is the idea of self-service. We all have our specific roles, but it’s usually a big help when we can find answers to the little questions, or gather as much information as possible before engaging other resources. This will usually save you from asking the 101 level questions, and you’ll always learn a little something in the process, which is great.

Today’s tip can really be for anyone looking to work with Fiori applications, whether you’re a developer, a functional resource, or a basis admin. When looking to work with specific Fiori applications, the first step is to make sure that the prerequisites for the application or applications have been met, that the proper software components have been installed and that you know what configuration tasks will need to be performed. That may sound like a lot, but there is a one-stop shop for all of this information, and it’s quite easy to use. That go-to resource is the Fiori App Library, which we can see below.

Using the list on the left, we can easily scan, search, and filter for the applications we are looking for. With an application selected, all of the information described above, and more, can be found under the “Implementation Information” tab, as shown below.
Under each one of those sections we see in the screenshot above, we can easily access required SAP notes, installation information including prerequisites and required software components, configuration steps, and more. Having this information at your fingertips will help you understand what’s required for each app, and forward that on to the appropriate resource if need be.

Now, a lot of times people aren’t looking to just install one app, but rather many applications at once, often across a wide range of functional areas. The app library also offers an aggregate function so you don’t have to get this information one app at a time. Simply check the applications you are looking for in the list, and select the “Aggregate” button beneath the list, as shown below.

For this example, I chose a number of different approval apps across a wide array of business areas. By using aggregate, you can get all of the requirements in one view, as opposed to performing this step for each app. With this nice list of required software, SAP notes, and configuration steps, you’re ready to get started with all of these Fiori applications. Now you’re ready to select some apps, get the requirements, and start your own Fiori journey today!
